Big Hat, No Cattle

I did exactly what the magazine wanted me to do. I bought it for a paper presented on the front page. But when I go home and began looking for the piece that I wanted to read, I could not find. The title drew me in, but hidden behind other features was an article that talks with another title, type, especially in the field. I felt cheated.

I feel cheated sometimes at work, too. There are people that you support this or that or boldly state they can doalready done so. But when you dig in particular, we discover profound "big hat, no cattle" people. Living in Montana, a state where hats and cattle say something, I say forget the hat and give me the cattle.

I admit that I get through this boastful, confident speaker had deceived. I left the hope of the promised ability to weigh me, only to discover the limited possibility for the benefits after they were hired. More than once I used grateful the trial periodperiod to eliminate any people livestock from my statement. The old adage is often true, "as the cap every foolish."

In a world full of deception and hypocrisy, not the big hat, not the people that are livestock. It 'true. This is a refreshing transparency to the real people. After twenty years in management, I came to think of them as WYSIWYG (pronounced wiz-ee-wig) people. It 'a term used for software developerswhat-you-see-is-what-you-get. WYSIWYG allows developers to see what the end result will look like during development. The same concept applies to humans.

Authentic people (people WYSIWGY) is not surprising. It is not for you. They are not manipulate. They are not deceived. Do not deliberately deceive. And certainly do not need to livestock. Authentic people are people of substance.

This what-you-see-is-what-you-get people are real, credible,well-to-People-their word, "show up" as who I am. There is nothing perfect about them. You'll know when they are angry or frustrated, excited or stressed, irritable or compassionate. They have their strengths and weaknesses like everyone else. But unlike many, do not try to be someone they are not. You try to be who they are and offer their uniqueness, their work. They appear as a complete package, with the passions and prejudices. Authentic people are not humble, boastful, truthfulnot intelligent, even as Saint-like.

If you are the show who you are, you change the dynamics of the work. Raise the bar for themselves and others from the skin in the game, setting the expectation for the service, and expect nothing less from others back. If you speak and act with conviction to win real thoughts, good intentions and philosophies, others be your guide. Want to be winning at the operational level? Losing the big hat ... or livestock.
